Walks
All our walking routes are circular.
Before setting out, make sure you have all appropriate clothing and gear. It is especially important to have a map and compass (and knowledge of how to use them!) when you are going up into the hills and moorlands.
Brontë Country
7.3 miles
3.5 hours
Moderate difficulty
Discover the moorlands that inspired the famous works of the Brontë sisters. This walk begins in Haworth and heads to Withins Heights, said to be the inspiration for Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Then, looping back towards Haworth, this route will take you via Brontë Waterfalls and Brontë Bridge.
The Brontë Parsonage Museum is located in Haworth, so why not visit before or after your walk!
Black Hill
8.1 miles
4.25 hours
Moderate difficulty
Scale the 3rd highest peak in the Peak District! Black Hill is located in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District. The Dark Peak is the Northern most part of the National Park and is known for it's desolate landscapes of moorland tops, steep-sided cloughs and dramatic gritstone plateaus. If you take this walk in late-summer you'll have the added treat of seeing the moorland heather in bloom.
There is a lovely pub and snack shop in the village of Holme which you can easily detour to on this route.
Holme Valley
7.9 miles
4 hours
Moderate difficulty
This route takes you around part of the beautiful Holme Valley through some of it's woodlands. Best of all is the section through the magical 'hidden valley'. If there have been very heavy rains you may find the water level is too high to cross in the hidden valley, in which case you can divert up to Dean Lane and walk through the 'tree tunnel'.
Why not divert for a spot of lunch in Holmfirth? There's a great variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Just break away from the route when you get to the end of Well Hill Road - turn right (heading north) onto Dunford Road and in 10 minutes you'll be into the centre of Holmfirth.
